Barton Community College Offers Honor Scholarships for 2011-12

Barton Community College, Great Bend, Kan., has announced students qualifying for Honor Scholarships for the 2011-12 academic year. To qualify for an Honor Award, a student must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 to 3.49 and be enrolled full time. These scholarships are administered by Barton's Financial Aid Office. The following students, listed by hometown, have qualified for these scholarships:

BCC hosts Rotary Youth Leadership Award Events at Camp Aldrich

Barton Community College hosted the annual Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp July 29-30 at Camp Aldrich. The camp is sponsored by Rotary District 5670 for high school juniors and seniors within the district who are nominated and sponsored by their local Rotary Clubs.

TOPEKA - Seventh and eighth grade students across Kansas can showcase their creativity in the 10th annual Learning Quest Essay Contest. The Learning Quest 529 Education Savings Program is Kansas' state-sponsored 529 plan, designed to help families invest for their child's continued education after high school.

GBCF announces 2011 Ryan Hugh Dunlap Memorial Scholarship recipients

The Golden Belt Community Foundation recently awarded a scholarship from the Ryan Hugh Dunlap Memorial Scholarship Fund. Ryan's family created a scholarship fund for students wishing to enter the fields of education and/or sports medicine. As a graduate of Great Bend High School, Barton Community College, and Southwestern College, Ryan was tirelessly dedicated to his students and athletes. Kay Leadership Camp

Approximately 275 Kays and Kayettes from across the state of Kansas gathered at Rock Springs 4-H Center, in Junction City, on July 25-29, for a "SUPERFANTASTIC" session of KAY (Kansas Association for Youth) Leadership Camp. The KAY Camp is a character-building, leadership-training program directed by the Kansas State High School Activities Association and is designed for all students in grades 7-12.
