Dominican Sisters celebrate jubilarians

Dominican Sisters of Peace will celebrate the 25 and 50 years jubilarians at its assembly this Saturday. There was a jubilee celebration for the Great Bend Sisters on June 23. There is also a celebration in Columbus, Ohio.

The movie, "Edith Stein: The Seventh Chamber," will be shown at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, in the Auditorium of the Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Peace, 3600 Broadway Ave. This presentation starts the spring series of Movies with a Message.

Trinity UMC observes 50th anniversary

Trinity United Methodist Church of Great Bend will celebrate its 50th anniversary at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday with friends, family, food and worship. There will be a special worship service including members, past members, past clergy and a choir, including current and past choir members.

Prayer in the square

Several local area churches are coming together for a community worship and prayer service in participation with National Day of Prayer at 6:30 p.m. May 3 at the band shell in Jack Kilby Square. There will be live worship and prayer for our leaders and communities. Everyone is welcomed to attend. Seating is available but people are welcome to bring lawn chairs.

Lenten Luncheon

The next Lenten Luncheon will Wednesday, March 21, at First Presbyterian Church, 2400 Washington St. First Congregational Church/UCC and First Church of the Nazarene will be the hosts. Sr. Jane Belanger, OP, Heartland Farm Community, will be the speaker. Serving begins at noon (not earlier) and continues to 1 p.m. A freewill offering is suggested to help defray the expenses incurred by the host congregation. The public is welcome to attend all of the luncheons.
