Edmonds signs Civility Pledge

CLAY CENTER – "Why are you helping me?" The woman said to Captain Nathan Algren, from Hollywood's block buster film The Last Samurai. She was carrying some items and the Captain came to help. In her surprise she commented that "Japanese men don't help with things like this."
Responses to Boston reveal beliefs
As you are aware, we have suffered an attack on hundreds of innocent victims in America at the Boston Marathon. The scene, as I watched it, was almost surreal. People down on the race track which was full of blood and even body parts. First responders and volunteers rushed in to take down barricades in order to render aid.
Christian Motorcycle Association plans Bikes & Blues Rally
The Christian Motorcyclists Association invites everyone to meet in the City Park in Macksville on May 4, for the fourth annual Macksville Bikes & Blues Rally. The event starts at noon with a prayer and the CMA's "Run for the Son" ride. There will be live music, food venders and camping available in the park.
Camp for foster kids confronts abuse, changes lives
Abused and neglected children know what it's like to feel unnoticed. When these kids are also in the foster care system, it often becomes a way of life. This summer, faith-based Royal Family Kids Camp will open its first camp for western Kansas' abused and neglected foster kids, as a way to show them that there are others who see them and care about their lives.
New ministry emerges from life changing tragedy
Lora Jones' life changed drastically when she and her family were involved in a terrible automobile accident. Her husband and son died at the scene. Her daughter died later that night in the same hospital where Lora had been taken.
National Day of Prayer local event planned
Surrendered Family Ministries invites everyone to take part in observing the 62nd Annual National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2. This year's theme, "Pray for America," is based on Matthew 12:21 "In His name the nations will put their hope."

What is the solution?
I saw a clip of the Morning Joe Show where they were talking about the things needed to control the shootings that have been going on. They talked about gun control, psychological testing and the violence coming out of Hollywood. A few days before, I watched another clip of an NRA supporter saying that gun control just amounts to people control.

Folk Singer Michelle Shocked was performing at Yoshi's in San Francisco on St. Patrick's Day when she said: "If someone would be so gracious as to please tweet out 'Michelle Shocked just said from stage, God hates f-----s.' Would you do it now?"

First Baptist Church to host revival
First Baptist Church, 1600 19th St., Great Bend, will host a three-day revival May 29-31. The meeting start at 7 each evening with area pastors speaking. The theme for the revival is "no boundaries." The public is invited.
