Most folks have also been aware of the debate over whether to drill and refine more oil here in America or to restrict that drilling. This debate also involves the debate over the building of a pipeline from Canada to Texas. In each case, the administration, with the aid of environmentalists, has restricted this drilling. What are the effects of these decisions? Are there other consequences besides rising oil prices? Do we have a demonstrated solution?

Superheroes ready to battle hunger

Members of the Thr3Elements youth group at CrossPoint Church will don their favorite superhero costumes this weekend to help battle hunger. The youth, in grades 7-12, are inviting community members to become heros as well by donating items to the Barton County Community Food Bank, Youth Pastor Randy Mills said.

Cultural festival precedes dedication of Mormon temple

One Heart in the Heartland, a cultural festival of Midwestern music and dance, will precede the dedication of the new Kansas City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) this weekend. The festival will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kansas City Municipal Auditorium, and the actual dedication of the temple will follow on Sunday.
