Jehovah's Witnesses are planning for their annual conventions and an accompanying campaign to invite the public to attend. This year's convention theme is "God's Word is Truth!" The Witnesses launched this series of conventions in the United States during May and will continue the programs worldwide through the end of December.

It's not often people of varying beliefs are invited to weigh in on what they really think about religion and culture. But that's exactly what the Rev. Lenny Maxwell at First United Methodist Church hopes will happen Saturday night. The church will present a free screening of "Lord, Save Us From Your Followers," a documentary by Dan Merchant, featuring interviews with well-known people on all sides of the "culture wars."
Evangelist John Jacobs is known for his "powerful" presentations, combining athletes and a gospel message. His Next Generation Power Force will appear at the First Assembly of God, 601 Patton Road, Great Bend, at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 16.
Great Bend Aglow will meet Saturday, June 8, at Perkins Family Restaurant, 2920 10th St. The guest speaker is Faith Levine, Kansas City. Sign-in and social time begin at 9 a.m. The meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Living Logos ministry will present a dramatic presentation of the scripture at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Faith Community Church.

First Baptist Revival ends Friday
First Baptist Church, 1600 19th St., Great Bend, will host a three-day revival May 29-31. The meeting start at 7 each evening with area pastors speaking. The theme for the revival is "no boundaries." The public is invited.
CONCORDIA - Rep. John Edmonds, R-Great Bend, has signed the Civility Pledge, a spokesman for the Concordia Year of Peace committee announced.
An established national speaker, comedian, musician and budding author, Tony Wolf will be at Community Christian Church at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8. The church is located at 253 NE 30 Road, Great Bend.
CLAY CENTER – "Why are you helping me?" The woman said to Captain Nathan Algren, from Hollywood's block buster film The Last Samurai. She was carrying some items and the Captain came to help. In her surprise she commented that "Japanese men don't help with things like this."
As you are aware, we have suffered an attack on hundreds of innocent victims in America at the Boston Marathon. The scene, as I watched it, was almost surreal. People down on the race track which was full of blood and even body parts. First responders and volunteers rushed in to take down barricades in order to render aid.
The Christian Motorcyclists Association invites everyone to meet in the City Park in Macksville on May 4, for the fourth annual Macksville Bikes & Blues Rally. The event starts at noon with a prayer and the CMA's "Run for the Son" ride. There will be live music, food venders and camping available in the park.
Abused and neglected children know what it's like to feel unnoticed. When these kids are also in the foster care system, it often becomes a way of life. This summer, faith-based Royal Family Kids Camp will open its first camp for western Kansas' abused and neglected foster kids, as a way to show them that there are others who see them and care about their lives.
A summer kids' event called Weird Animals VBS will be hosted at Trinity Lutheran Church from Sunday to Thursday. Weird Animals VBS is for children 3 years old to those who just completed 8th grade, and will run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each day.
"Where God guides and provides" is the central theme for "Wilderness Escape" Vacation Bible School at First Christian Church, 5230 Broadway Ave., Great Bend. The church will hold its annual VBS from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, July 20, through Thursday, July 24.
Actors from Prince of Peace Parish will host a pageant performance of the symbolic story, "The Miraculous Apparitions of the Virgin Mary," at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, in the Shafer Art Gallery at Barton Community College. The Our Lady of Guadalupe Pageant is being done in conjunction with the "Estamos Aqui" exhibit at Shafer Gallery.
The Trinity Lutheran Church Social Concerns Team will host its annual fundraiser and the proceeds this year will be donated to the Oaks Indian Mission in Oklahoma. The event is scheduled for Sunday, July 27, 2014 following the 10:30 a.m. Worship Service in the Fellowship Hall. Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 24th & Adams in Great Bend.
MANHATTAN - There have been a number of videos interviewing people concerning their knowledge of historical and political information. This method of interviewing started with Jay Leno. It was then picked up by Sean Hannity, and later by several others. The results are both interesting and concerning.
The International Spy Academy is a Vacation Bible School where kids get to be special agents for God, according to sponsors at Community Christian Church in Great Bend. This Vacation Bible School starts Sunday and will be offered from 6:30 to 9 p.m. July 20-24 at the church, located at 253 NE 30 Road, just east of Barton Community College. It is intended for children who have completed kindergarten, through middle school.
