SpiritLife program starts Aug. 24
SALINA - United Methodists will cover Salina this afternoon with willing hands to serve in dozens of local agencies and participate in the Day of Service. There will be a variety of volunteer opportunities to accommodate every age and ability, said Kathryn Witte, communications/marketing director for the Nebraska United Methodist Conference.
HOISINGTON - In 1941, several believers in Hoisington organized a Bible class called the Hoisington Bible School. Every Sunday afternoon this group of 10 to 15 people met for service. In 1942, the church began to flourish and the name Hoisington Bible School was changed to Hoisington Bible Church (HBC). Eventually the need to incorporate led the church to file appropriate papers with the state of Kansas on Aug. 26, 1943.

City Church Ministries (www.GBChristians.com) will host a citywide Christian Meet 'n' Greet at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the large shelter in Veterans Memorial Park, as part of a combined ministry outreach.
WICHTIA - Learn about the Fall Feasts of the Lord at a seminar from 1:30-5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Remnant of Israel Messianic Congregation, located at 3700 E. Pawnee St. in Wichita. Faith Community Church will host Ron Walicki Ministries on Sunday, Aug. 18, for the services at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The public is invited to "Come Breakout in Worship" at 7 p.m. Friday at Perkins Family Restaurant, 2920 10th St. in Great Bend. Worship will be led by Christina Ball and sons. The message will be delivered by Pastor Hopkins Sr. of Missouri. A freewill love offering will be taken.
Members of the First United Methodist Church, Great Bend, see helping others as a strong commitment of their faith. The Life Giving Center is the focus of their August mission. Members are sorting clothing for use, not only by families currently being helped by the Center, but it also serves as a clothing resource for any in the community needing clothing items.
Heartland Center for Spirituality honored three graduates from its Spiritual Director Formation Program recently. This training is in addition to the Spiritual Formation Program offered in the SpiritLife Curriculum.
At the closing of Saturday evening prayer on Aug. 3, the Great Bend area Dominican Sisters and Associates of Peace blessed new novice Sister Anne Knight as she prepares to enter her canonical year at the Collaborative Dominican Novitiate in St. Louis, Mo.

St. Mark Lutheran Church in Great Bend will host their annual "Roast Beef Dinner" on Sunday, March 1st in the Church Fellowship Hall, 2101 Jackson. The menu includes roast beef, potatoes, green beans, roll, dessert and drink. Serving will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Carry-out will be available.
