WICHITA - The Jehovah's Witnesses' district convention will be held July 6-8 at the Century II Convention Center, 225 West Douglas Ave., Wichita. An estimated 8,000 people will attend this event and/or the Spanish convention to be held Aug. 17-19 for Bible-based programs, sponsors said.

Governor Walker of Wisconsin and four of his supporters won recall elections rather handily last week. I found it interesting that Yahoo News called his 53 percent to 46 percent margin of victory a narrow victory! In fact, this victory could even be considered a landslide, because the victory was by a larger margin than Walker's win in his original election in 2010. It is clearly a mandate by the people of Wisconsin.

Prince of Peace Parish is will experiment with a new time for Sunday Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4100 Broadway Ave. Instead of Masses at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., Mass will be held there at 9:30 a.m. from July 1 through Sept. 30, Father Reggie Urban said.
