Adamson celebrating 35 years

Trinity Lutheran Church in Otis will have a special celebration honoring Pastor Bruce Adamson on the 35th anniversary of his ordination. The service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, with special music provided by Prairie Timbre +1. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Susan Candea, the Bishop's Associate with the ELCA Synod. A catered dinner will be served at 12:30 p.m. in the church basement. Those planning to attend the meal should contact Trinity Lutheran Church by Friday, Sept. 12.

The Great Bend Seventh-day Adventist Elementary School is placing its fall order for fruit from the Bithell Farms in Oregon. Place orders by Sept. 30 and the fruit will arrive in late October or early November.

St. Paul Lutheran to host homemade ice cream social

GALATIA - St. Paul Lutheran Church in Galatia will host a homemade ice cream social from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14. Cakes, pies and cookies will be served with the ice cream and various toppings. Donations will be used for Christmas charities, including Kans for Kids Fighting Cancer, Dream Inc., Ellsworth prison, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), and many others.

See You at the Pole kickoff rally set for Sept. 21

As a reminder that God hasn't been expelled from public schools, students plan to gather around school flagpoles later this month for prayer. But first, One Hope ministries in Great Bend will host a kick-off rally for See You At The Pole 2014. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, in the Great Bend High School auditorium. ​New Testament study begins at First Congregational UCC

A New Testament study, facilitated by Pastor Julie Shields, will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 3400 21st St. This study offers a look at the New Testament writings, the authors, a look at what the circumstances of the times and for what audience were they written. The ultimate goal is to understand and appreciate these books and how they apply to our lives today.
