Dominicans show movies with message
Yesterday, I watched the news story of the fire in the middle of the flood in New York City. It was amazing that such a destructive fire could function in the middle of a storm and flood. But, what really caught my attention was a statement that was made at the end of the story. "We are strong. We will rebuild." Why?
Hope Lutheran Church bazaar Friday, Nov. 2
Allen and Connie Parker from Fairbury, Neb., better known to southern gospel music fans as Lambwatchers Ministries, will join several other musical acts on stage today and/or Saturday, at the eighth annual Fall Gospel Sings Concerts. Music will be presented at no charge (freewill offerings will be accepted) from 7-9 tonight and 1-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Barton Community College's Fine Arts Auditorium.
The Trinity Lutheran Church Ladies Fellowship will host a roast beef dinner on Friday, Nov. 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 24th & Adams St., Great Bend.
ELLINWOOD - Cowboy Church is moving from the home of Healing Hearts Ranch Director Scott Stinemetz to Calvary Baptist Church, 307 West A, in Ellinwood, starting Nov. 7. Services will be every Wednesday at 7 p.m.
• Judgement House, a walk-through drama, will be held this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Great Bend Church of the Nazarene. Hours are 6-10 p.m. Friday, 5-10 p.m. Saturday and 12:30-6 p.m. Sunday
Haskell and JoLee Cooley are among the singers scheduled to appear during the eighth annual Fall Gospel Sings Concert, Nov. 2-3 at Barton Community College's Fine Arts Auditorium. The public is invited to come to any of the free programs going on from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, and 1-9 p.m. Sunday.
Members of Faith Community Church will share their hobbies, handiwork and businesses with the public at the church's first Business, Craft and Hobby Show.

• Great Bend Church of Christ invites children to the Heroes Unmasked Fall Festival from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, at the church, located at 12th and Stone St.
Singing legend Frankie Valens and his wife Phyllis will appear at First Southern Baptist Church, 3301 19th St., Great Bend, at 10:45 a.m. on Nov. 4. There will be no charge for the program, but a freewill offering will be taken.
St. Mark Lutheran Church serving soup Sunday
CLAY CENTER – I was visiting with a young woman whom I had lost contact with for several years. As we caught up about her family, work and faith she said, "I'm a pagan." It surprised me. I never had anyone tell me that before. After our conversation I asked myself, "What does it mean when she calls herself a pagan?"
There will be a Breakout in Worship at 7 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Perkins restaurant, 2920 10th St. Worship will be led by Christina Ball, and the message will be delivered by Christy Burris of Stafford. A freewill love offering will be collected.
First Baptist Church will hold a Good Friday service from 1-3 p.m. April 18 at the church, 1600 19th St. The pastor is Leroy Keith.

Christ's sacrifice will be presented by the Great Bend Seventh-day Adventist Church choir at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, April 19 at the church, 1 mile west of 10th St. and Patton Road. Pastor Terry Ruebush will narrate using Mark, chapter 11-14.
A traditional Jewish celebration was observed at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 21st and Polk St., with an authentic Passover Seder on Monday April 14, the first day of Passover.

• "Increase the Reach Summit" presented by Rev. Scott Hinkle will be held at Faith Community Church on Saturday, April 12th from 9 a.m. until noon. The church is located 1 mile west of 10th and Patton Road in Grea Bend. The Rev. Hinkle will also be speaking in the Sunday Morning Worship Service, April 13 at Faith Community Church at 10:30 a.m. Both services are open to the public. Scott Hinkle, an evangelist now headquartered in the Dallas /Forth Worth Metroplex once lived a life that pointed to only one direction…prison and ultimately an early grave.

MILBERGER - United Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Milberger, will celebrate its German heritage with a worship service conducted entirely in German at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 27.
Central Baptist Church, 3301 Lakin Ave., will host the final Lenten Luncheon of 2014 at noon Wednesday, April 16. Host pastor is Dr. Joan Harrington, and the speaker will be LeRoy Keith, pastor of First Baptist Church. Serving is at noon (not earlier) and all are welcome at the ecumenical gathering for fellowship, personal reflection and spiritual growth.
