First United Methodist Church, 2123 Forest Ave., Great Bend, is excited to announce the launch of REVIVE worship beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 17. With the addition of Revive, First is intentionally reaching out to a new group of people with worship that is relevant to their lives.
A summer kids' event called Weird Animals VBS will be hosted at Trinity Lutheran Church from Sunday to Thursday. Weird Animals VBS is for children 3 years old to those who just completed 8th grade, and will run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each day.
"Where God guides and provides" is the central theme for "Wilderness Escape" Vacation Bible School at First Christian Church, 5230 Broadway Ave., Great Bend. The church will hold its annual VBS from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, July 20, through Thursday, July 24.
Actors from Prince of Peace Parish will host a pageant performance of the symbolic story, "The Miraculous Apparitions of the Virgin Mary," at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, in the Shafer Art Gallery at Barton Community College. The Our Lady of Guadalupe Pageant is being done in conjunction with the "Estamos Aqui" exhibit at Shafer Gallery.
The Trinity Lutheran Church Social Concerns Team will host its annual fundraiser and the proceeds this year will be donated to the Oaks Indian Mission in Oklahoma. The event is scheduled for Sunday, July 27, 2014 following the 10:30 a.m. Worship Service in the Fellowship Hall. Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 24th & Adams in Great Bend.
MANHATTAN - There have been a number of videos interviewing people concerning their knowledge of historical and political information. This method of interviewing started with Jay Leno. It was then picked up by Sean Hannity, and later by several others. The results are both interesting and concerning.
The International Spy Academy is a Vacation Bible School where kids get to be special agents for God, according to sponsors at Community Christian Church in Great Bend. This Vacation Bible School starts Sunday and will be offered from 6:30 to 9 p.m. July 20-24 at the church, located at 253 NE 30 Road, just east of Barton Community College. It is intended for children who have completed kindergarten, through middle school.

HESSTON – South central Kansas will be the destination for five world class musical acts in a variety of backgrounds and genres when Hesston College and Bethel College (North Newton) team up to host the 2014-15 Hesston-Bethel Performing Arts 2014-15 season.

The Barton County Association of Churches' annual Chicken Noodle Soup Supper will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, at the Prince of Peace Parish Center at 4100 Broadway Ave. In addition to the homemade soup, homemade pies will be served. The Great Bend Seventh-day Adventist School will present a musical, "God Will Take You Through," this Saturday, Oct. 18 at 11 a.m. at the Great Bend Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1 mile west of 10th St. and Patton Road. It will be presented at 2 p.m. at Sterling House and a final presentation at 6 p.m. at the Spanish Seventh-day Adventist Church, 19th St. and U.S. 281 Bypass.
