Celebrity Chef Mark Anthony will present his free "Dinner and A Message" cooking show at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, at the Great Bend Seventh-day Adventist Church, located one mile west of 10th St. and Patton Road at 7 SW 30 Ave.
"Embrace Your Heritage," a workshop for local church historians, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Student Activities Center at Kansas Wesleyan University, located at Claflin Ave. and South Fourth St. in Salina. The workshop will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. Registration is $25, which includes lunch. Deadline for registration is Oct. 19.
On Sunday, Sept. 23, the Dominican Sisters of Peace held a Rite of Entrance ceremony for Anne Knight, welcoming her as a new candidate to their congregation of Catholic Sisters. As a candidate, Anne will continue on a path of prayer and discernment, determining whether she will eventually make vows as a member of the Dominican Sisters of Peace. In this year of candidacy, she will live with a local community of Sisters, participate in their shared life of prayer, study and service, and continue to learn more about the joys and struggles of being a Dominican Sister.
LA CROSSE - Knights of Columbus Past Supreme Knight Virgil C. Dechant will make a presentation on papal memorabilia he has collected while he served a Supreme Knight. The presentation will follow a brunch to celebrate St. Michael's Feast Day on Sunday, Sept. 30, at St. Michael Catholic Church Parish Center, 917 Lincoln St., La Crosse.
I have written a number of times concerning the lifting of God's protection on the nation due to its increasing sin and its withdrawing of support from the nation of Israel. This year a documentary called "The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment" was produced by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, a Messianic Jew. I was able to watch this recently. It further substantiated this position.
CLAY CENTER - A Florida teenager made national news giving experts a lot to talk about. Matthew Scheidt, 18, was arrested by authorities after an impersonation stunt. He wormed his way into being a Physician's Assistant at a local hospital. He had an ID badge, had the right clothes and was even trusted by a doctor to do CPR on a patient. Matthew said and did all the right things, so folks gave him a pass in spite of some inner suspicions.
