First Southern Baptist Church, 3301 19th St., chose "Amazing Wonders Aviation" as the theme for this year's Vacation Bible School, starting Monday, July 23.
"Walking with Jesus through the Parables" is the theme of this year's Vacation Bible School at the Great Bend Seventh-day Adventist Church, located one mile west of 10th and Patton Road.
The other day I saw a chart illustrating the growth of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid in the federal budget. The chart and article were produced by www.bankruptingamerica.org and it showed these three items growing from 16 percent of the Federal budget in 1967 to a whopping 41 percent of the budget in 2011. WICHITA - Sixteen high school students from the Catholic Diocese of Dodge City attended the fourth annual Summer Service Camp hosted by Newman University in June. The week-long camp is held to give students from schools in the Dodge City Diocese an opportunity to serve others while growing in faith and experiencing fellowship.

St. Mark Lutheran Church in Great Bend will host their annual "Roast Beef Dinner" on Sunday, March 1st in the Church Fellowship Hall, 2101 Jackson. The menu includes roast beef, potatoes, green beans, roll, dessert and drink. Serving will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Carry-out will be available.
