Central Baptist Church celebrates 125 years

The name and location may have changed, but the mission of Great Bend's Central Baptist Church has remained the same for 125 years. This Saturday and Sunday, a month-long celebration of the church's quasquicentennial will culminate at the church, which has been located at Lakin and Harrison streets since 1964.

Ugandan orphans spell hope for children in poverty

The Ugandan Orphans Choir will perform at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 22, at the First Assembly of God Church, 601 Patton Road. This group of 10 children ranging from 11 to 14 years old will perform traditional African songs and dances while raising awareness of the power of child sponsorship.

Faith Community Church will hold healing conference

On April 20-22, Faith Community Church will host the Great Bend Healing Campaign. The citywide event will kick off Friday, April 20 at 7 p.m. with a night of Praise and Prayer. At 10 a.m. on Saturday morning a healing school will be held. Healing and miracle services will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday and at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday. The public is invited to attend, Pastor Sandy Kennedy said.

Presbyterians hold 49th Annual Irish Stew

On Thursday, March 15, the First Presbyterian Church in Great Bend will be holding their famous recipe Irish Stew and Pie Supper. The stew will be served in the Fellowship Hall of the church at 24th and Washington from 4:30 until 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $6 (pre-kindergarten free) and will be available at the door. Carry-out can be purchased and picked up at the northeast church entry.

Fair to be installed as new pastor for Immanuel UCC

This Sunday, April 5, St. Mark Lutheran, 2101 Jackson, Great Bend, and St. Paul Lutheran, Galatia, will begin their spring/summer service schedule.
