St. John's Episcopal Church will hold a Christmas Eve service at 7:30 tonight at the church, 2701 17th St. The public is invited to a social hour to be held in the parish hall beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the Mass to follow. The annual Christmas music events at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2701 24th St., will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, and at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. services this Sunday.
"The Music of Christmas", a concert of traditional sacred hymns celebrating the birth of Christ, will be presented at 4 p.m. on Sunday. This will be the 15th annual Christmas program by musicians Jenny Allford and Brad Shirer. Duets will feature the Sanctuary grand piano and the 1926 Austin pipe organ of First United Methodist church. The church, located on the corner of Forest and Stone Streets in downtown Great Bend, is handicapped accessible. This free concert and the reception following are open to the public.

The Great Bend Youth Workers Alliance is sponsoring a free Fifth Quarter event tonight, for all Great Bend middle school and high school students. Fifth Quarter starts at 9 p.m. and continues until midnight at the First Assembly of God church, 601 South Patton Road. According to spokesman Ashley Dowgwillo, there will be inflatable games, video games, basketball, free food and a concert by the band Echelon.
The Larned Community Christmas Service will be Sunday evening, beginning at 6 p.m. This annual Ministerial Association event will be hosted by the First Presbyterian Church, located at Eighth St. and Morris Ave., next to the football field.

Rush County Community Choir will present a Christmas Cantata, "Night of the Father's Love" on Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Hope Lutheran Church in Rush Center and at 4:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Albert, four miles south, one mile west and 1/2 mile south of Albert.
The Streets of Bethlehem, a journey through the past to visit the birthplace of Christ, will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Dec. 5, 11 and 12 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 205 S. County Road, in Holyrood. Tours leave every 10 to 15 minutes. Admission is free with entertainment while you wait, live animals and refreshments. See the town where Jesus was born and experience what the shopkeepers and townspeople saw and heard that night.
Pastors at two Great Bend churches encourage Christians to attend a Thanksgiving service of their choice next week. Both St. Mark Lutheran, 2101 Jackson, and Trinity Lutheran, 2701 24th St., announced special services. During these services they also will accept offerings of money and/or canned goods that will be given to the food banks of Hoisington, Rush County (in La Crosse) and Great Bend.
