David Worth Hinton with Outreach For America will be ministering at Rozel Christian Fellowship at 7 p.m. Saturday July 25. The founder of the non-profit ministry designed to win the lost to Jesus Christ and train up disciples to do the same leads worship through country gospel music on guitar. With the assistance of RCF Pastor Stan Bryant, he will also appear at four other Pawnee County churches throughout the week.
The Congregations of St. Mark, Great Bend and St. Paul, Galatia will hold a joint Holy Communion Service on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Galatia. A catered meal will follow the service at noon. The congregations are celebrating Pastor Adam Wutka's 10th anniversary of his ordination in the ELCA, as well as 10 years with this joint parish.
The Great Bend Community Christian Church, located at 253 NE 30 Rd., East of Barton Community College, is ready to kick off an epic adventure. Camp Kilimanjaro will take kids on an epic expedition through proverbs. While there, they will learn to walk in God's wisdom as they enjoy songs, crafts, games, goodies and dramas.
All area children are invited to move, act, care, follow and share at G-Force: God's Love in Action Vacation Bible School. Young people and adults will explore and experience serving God and others with active love! The fun begins July 20 and ends July 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church at Patton and Broadway.
Immanuel United Church of Christ and Ellinwood United Methodist Church will be holding their Vacation Bible School from Sunday, June 21 to Wednesday June 24. The Vacation Bible School will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Vacation Bible School will be held at the United Methodist Church, except for Wednesday, June 24, which will be held at Immanuel United Church of Christ. Sixteen youth and their sponsors from First United Methodist Church in Great Bend will travel to Chicago July 5-11 to take part in an ongoing mission helping the homeless of that city. They will be sleeping on the floors of Chicago churches by night, and by day serving at food banks and kitchens, and working directly with homeless youth. They will meet people who have spent the previous night sleeping on the street, said Growth and Youth Minister Matt Aycock.
"To be the Church that God is calling us to be, we felt like we needed to create a space that would really connect with our kiddos," explained Rev. Josh Lue, senior minister at First Christian Church in Great Bend. " Our kids are now so excited about Sunday school they are dragging their parents, and not the other way around."
Sunday, May 31, First Congregational United Church of Christ rejoices with the installation of Julie Shields as their new pastor. For several years, Shields has ministered to members and friends with her gentle yet powerful message, that all children of God. Her installation will be part of the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Edith Guffey, United Church of Christ conference minister, will participate in the installation. All are welcome.
SEWARD - The Most Rev. John Balthasar Brungardt, bishop of the diocese of Dodge City, will officiate the Mass on Memorial Day, May 25, at St. Xavier Catholic Church in Seward. Bishop Brungardt will also install a first-class relic of Blessed Jose Luis Sanchez del Rio.
