Gays and Evangelicals (commentary)

CLAY CENTER – Almost weekly news stories appear promoting gay rights. Currently 19 states have legalized same sex marriage while 31 states have traditional marriage laws on the books. Additionally, President Obama has issued various executive orders furthering the equality of gays. All this has made the gay issue a topic for public discussion. It is not just a religious, political or social issue anymore. It is regularly in the news and impacting many Americans on some level.

Dream Center changing lives

Great Bend's Central Kansas Dream Center, located in the former Roosevelt School at 2100 Broadway Ave., is all about "reaching hurting people, restoring families (and) realizing dreams." Director Kimberly Becker recently spoke at a Noon Kiwanis meeting and described the ministries at the site, along with plans for growth.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Pageant Friday at BCC

Actors from Prince of Peace Parish will host a pageant performance of the symbolic story, "The Miraculous Apparitions of the Virgin Mary," at 7 p.m. Friday in the Shafer Art Gallery at Barton Community College. Agency D3 VBS allows kids to uncover truth

HOISINGTON - Agency D3 is the Vacation Bible School theme for kids next week at New Life Baptist Church, 364 W. 12th St. in Hoisington. It is for children as young as 4 years old, through those who have completed sixth grade. It will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, Aug. 4-8 at the church.

America's biggest offenses are the shedding of innocent blood through abortions and opposing God's chosen people, Israel.
