First Christian Church Debt Retirement

St. Johns Episcopal Church announces evening service

St. John's Episcopal Church will hold a Christmas Eve service at 7:30 tonight at the church, 2701 17th St. The public is invited to a social hour to be held in the parish hall beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the Mass to follow. Come and hear a wonderful and thought provoking sermon and a beautiful Christmas Mass conducted by the Rev. Phyllis Flory.

Music of Christmas

"The Music of Christmas", a concert of traditional sacred hymns celebrating the birth of Christ, will be presented at 4 p.m. on Sunday. This will be the 15th annual Christmas program by musicians Jenny Allford and Brad Shirer. Duets will feature the Sanctuary grand piano and the 1926 Austin pipe organ of First United Methodist church. The church, located on the corner of Forest and Stone Streets in downtown Great Bend, is handicapped accessible. This free concert and the reception following are open to the public.

Pope Benedict XVI announced today that he has accepted the resignation of Bishop Ronald M. Gilmore and appointed Reverend John B. Brungardt of Wichita as the sixth Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Dodge City.

The students of the Great Bend Seventh-day Adventist Elementary School will present "Portraits of Love" at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning at the Great Bend Seventh-day Adventist Church, one mile west of 10th and Patton Road. This play will provide various ways that show Jesus's love. The public is invited to come and enjoy this spiritual take on the reason for the season of Christmas.

TWA sponsors Fifth Quarter tonight

The Great Bend Youth Workers Alliance is sponsoring a free Fifth Quarter event tonight, for all Great Bend middle school and high school students. Fifth Quarter starts at 9 p.m. and continues until midnight at the First Assembly of God church, 601 South Patton Road. According to spokesman Ashley Dowgwillo, there will be inflatable games, video games, basketball, free food and a concert by the band Echelon.
