Illusionist Reza to perform Friday

Reza the Illusionist will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Crest Theater. The program is a benefit for Star of Hope and for Great Bend Community Theatre. Tickets are $17 for adults, $11 for students; children under 5 will be admitted free.

CKCA Open House

Central Kansas Christian Academy will hold their annual Open House from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Current students attending CKCA are invited to check out their school projects, have refreshments and join in fellowship. Prospective students and their families, along with families interested in the school, are welcome to attend. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the classrooms, sign up for Kindergarten screenings, meet the teachers and learn about the school curriculum. CKCA is independent of any local church. Great Bend High School Kayette’s annual Mr. Perfect Panther Pageant

The Great Bend High School Kayette's annual Mr. Perfect Panther Pageant will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday at the high school auditorium. The evening features eight of the high schools finest senior boys competing in various pageant categories to help raise money for Mrs. Annetta Schaub, who is battling cancer for the second time. Seniors competing include Jayce Brack, Grant Harris, Walter Helms, Adam Jacobs, Josh Moran, Branden Paden, Blake Sullivan, and Ty Yager. Tickets are $3 for general admission and can be purchased at the door. All proceeds to benefit Mrs. Schaub.

USD 428 Board of Education meeting

USD 428 Board of Education will meet at noon on Thursday at Eisenhower Elementary School, 1212 Garfield. Items on the agenda include the 2015-2016 school calendar; a resolution maintaining BOE member elections in April; and licensed teacher retirements, resignations and personnel appointment. Eisenhower Elementary School Principal Tricia Reiser and other staff members will share information regarding the academic programs and the school improvement efforts at Eisenhower.

Kans for Kids Radiothon

The 5th Annual Kans for Kids Fighting Cancer Radiothon will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 27, on all four Eagle Radio stations. Endowment Concert to raise money for scholarships

The Barton Community College music department awards 11 scholarships every year at about $1,000 each and 20 performance awards for non-music major students, which enables them to participate in ensembles. This could not be done without the community's support of the annual Music Endowment Concert, which is set for 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 4, in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

Bridge work to cause road closings

Starting Monday, NE 60 Avenue north of U.S. 56 and NE 30 Road one mile east of K-156 will be closed due to road and bridge construction, The Barton County Road and Bridge Department announced Friday. The work will take approximately one week.
