Chamber Coffee

This week's Chamber of Commerce Coffee will be hosted by the Great Bend Tribune, 2012 Forest Avenue, at 9:30 a.m., Thursday. Host will be Shawn Panzer with greeters Sarah Adams and Amanda Hockerott. As the local news and multi-media leader, the Great Bend Tribune informs the community about matters of importance and interest. Featuring a blend of print, social media and digital products, the Tribune will be introducing its latest community project. Coffee, refreshments and door prizes will be available.

U.S. Supreme Court to hear appeal in Barton County murders

TOPEKA - The vacating of the death penalty for the man convicted in a pair of 2004 Barton County murders will be argued before the U.S. Supreme Court which it next convenes in October, according to information on the high court's website.

​Riley, Park schools get Chromebooks

The Great Bend USD 428 school board approved the purchase of Chromebook computers and software for two elementary schools when it met Tuesday. The board also accepted a donation for future playground equipment at Park School.

KDHE immunization program

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Immunization Program is continuing its successful 'Immunize and Win a Prize,' program. This statewide campaign provides prizes to families who have their children timely immunized. All Kansas children are eligible. However, to qualify, the children must receive their immunizations from a Vaccines For Children (VFC) provider.

With Meeting in Ellsworth County, Huelskamp Approaches 300 Town Halls

Holyrood, Kan. – Today Congressman Tim Huelskamp (KS-01) continues the tradition of holding a Town Hall in every county in the Big First District. Drug Enforcement Operation conducted in Ellinwood

ELLINWOOD -- On Friday, a multi-agency drug enforcement operation was conducted in the city of Ellinwood at 515 S, Bismark. Police officers from Great Bend and Ellinwood along with deputies from the Barton County sheriff's office, and special agents from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation were part of the operation. The Great Bend Police department drug detecting canine named "Kia" also responded to the scene at the request of Ellinwood.

Great Bend City Council nixes two days of fireworks
