Some of county money lost in scam recovered

On Thursday, the Barton County Sheriff's Office received notification from Barton County Treasurer Kevin Wondra that some of the funds in the recent email scam had been recovered, Sheriff Brian Bellendir said.

Kitts files for Commissioner

Hannelore Kitts announces that she has filed for the position of Barton County Commissioner, District 2. Kitts recently retired from her position of District Judge of the 20th Judicial District, which she held for almost 20 years. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Graves in 1995, after she had been in the general practice of law for 12 years representing juveniles and criminal defendants.

Once thought to be a passenger, driver in fatal wreck charged

The initial investigation into a May 15 fatal wreck indicated the deceased, Jacob D. Kinney of Great Bend, was driving. However, Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir said authorities now believe that is not the case.
