Boil water advisories lifted for Waldo and Paradise

TOPEKA – As of early Thursday morning, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment has rescinded a boil water advisory for the public water supply in the cities of Waldo and Paradise, both located in Russell County. KDHE officials issued the advisory because of a loss of pressure. Inadequate pressure may result in a loss of chlorine residuals and bacterial contamination.

Youth Turkey Hunt scheduled for Kanopolis Lake

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) at Kanopolis Lake will host its youth turkey hunt Saturday April 2, on public lands managed by USACE. The select number of hunts will take place inside of refuge and park areas that are usually closed to hunting.

Sheriff says charges likely in swim team sex abuse case

ELLSWORTH – Ellsworth County Sheriff Tracy Ploutz said Tuesday he believes there was some form of criminal activity that occurred on a Great Bend High School bus Saturday, Feb. 6. It is alleged a GBHS boys swim team member was sexually battered by teammates on that bus as it was returning from Manhattan.

Landfill to now accept liquid waste
