State Fair opinion poll: Trump leads in Kansas

HUTCHINSON – The Secretary of State's Office closed its annual State Fair Opinion Poll Sunday afternoon and the results have been tallied. The poll consisted of five questions with topics ranging from the presidential campaign to the 2024 Olympic venue. A total of 390 people participated.

Pawnee County Health Department and Sheriff’s Department team up to make schools safer

LARNED - Thanks to a surplus in emergency preparedness funding provided to the Pawnee County Health Department through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, schools in Pawnee County will be receiving 120 emergency buckets fi lled with a variety of items to help with sheltering in place. Th is could be helpful in the event of natural disasters, like tornadoes, or in the event of a school lockdown.

City proceeds with GBPD remodeling effort

The Great Bend City Council voted Monday night to proceed with plans on how to best way to remodel the Great Bend Police Department. The nearly 90-year-old structure needs updating to accommodate current needs.

Citing progress in the cleaning up and repairing of four run-down homes in the 2100 block of 16th Street, the Great Bend City Council voted Monday night to table action on condemning the structures for demolition for 60 days.

Council OKs leases for two baseball teams

It was a double play at the Great Bend City Council meeting Monday night as the council authorized Mayor Mike Allison to sign lease agreements with both the professional Great Bend Boom and the collegiate Great Bend Bat Cats organizers for their 2017 summer seasons.

Name released in officer-involved-shooting in Ellsworth County

ELLSWORTH - Authorities have released the name of a suspect who was shot as he was being apprehended by officers from multiple law enforcement agencies in Ellsworth County, last Thursday night and Friday morning, Sept. 15-16 in Ellsworth County.
