​Car catches fire after rolling

SMITH COUNTY - A motorist from Horton and his passenger from Hoisington were injured at 2:27 a.m. Saturday after the driver passed another vehicle and then lost control of the car on a Smith County highway.

Touched by Cancer updates meeting schedule

The Touched by Cancer Support Group will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the Heartland Cancer Center, 204 Cleveland St. It will be a sharing meeting plus reading/discussing "Chicken Soup for the Surviving Soul – 101 Stories of Courage and Inspiration from Those Who have Survived Cancer."

GB Toastmasters success continues

The Great Bend Toastmasters group held its most recent meeting on Jan. 14 at the Great Bend Public Library. Meetings in 2016 will occur from noon to 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at the library, 1409 Williams St. They are free and open to the public. The next meeting is set for Jan. 28.
