The Teen Spot at the Great Bend Public Library will hold a special party from noon to 5 p.m. this Friday, July 31. This party is two-fold as the library bids farewell to its three teen summer interns and to Young Adult and Marketing Librarian Jennifer King. Teens are encouraged to attend for snacks and games.

Approximately at 2:40 p.m. on Monday, Officer Michael Bradley was on Patrol and noticed a wanted subject walking down the street. Michael Moore had outstanding warrants and was wanted for questioning in relation to several other incidents. When Moore noticed the officer he fled the area on foot. Police officers responded to the area and set a up a perimeter in an attempt to take Moore into custody. Officers seen Moore leaving a yard, and were able to catch Moore and take him into custody.

ALBERT - At 4:13 p.m. last Wednesday, a woman called 911 to let law enforcement know she (or someone at the residence) was attempting to shoot a snake in her yard on Charles Street in Albert. At 4:20 she called back, asking if an officer would make sure the snake was dead.
A Great Bend man told police he was hit with a bat and robbed of cash around 3 a.m. Saturday at the Baltzell Motel, 705 10th St. The man called police shortly before 9 a.m. At that time he also identified his alleged attacker, saying they were arguing over money. He was reportedly hit in the knee with a small baseball bat, and then his wallet was taken.

Helping Hands Preschool, along with Great Bend USD 428, has a limited number of openings available in the 4-year-old Pre-K program for the upcoming school year. This program is free - except for a $40 initial enrollment fee - and is sponsored by a grant from the Kansas State Board of Education.
