Area residents involved in injury accidents

Barton and Pawnee County residents were involved in several highway accidents over the weekend, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash logs. All of the people involved were wearing seat belts, with one exception.

Cancer patients learn about writing at St. Rose presentation

Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg has been a writer for much of her life and used the written word to help her through six months of chemotherapy and three major surgeries. Now she wants to share what she has learned with other patients with cancer or other chronic illness.

The fifth annual Storm Co-Ed Benefit Softball Tournament, helping the area's Special Olympics team, will be held July 27-28 at Veterans Fields in Great Bend. Team sign-ups are under way with the entry fee set at $135 per team.

Boy shares Kans for Kids story

Wednesday morning, nine year-old Dade Cannon, a participant in vacation Bible school at Great Bend First United Methodist Church, shared with his fellow campers his appreciation for their work to raise money for Kans for Kids. Cannon has personally benefitted from the services provided by the charitable program during his five-year long battle with Leukemia.
