Contract to build overlook OKed by commission

It has been a long time coming. Construction on the much-anticipated Cheyenne Bottoms scenic overlook east of Hoisington on K-4 should begin this fall following the approval of the bid to build the attraction by the Barton County Commission Monday morning.

Huelskamp thanks Great Bend intern Phillip Kuhn

Fort Larned carpenter recalls restoration

LARNED - When visitors step onto the grounds of the Fort Larned National Historic State today, they see it as it appeared in the 1860s during the Indian Wars. Mildon Yeager – a retired carpenter who worked at the site for 20 years – also sees years of restoration that took place in the 20th century, and continues to this day.

Company selling city map ads not affiliated with Tribune

There is a company from Illinois calling local businesses about purchasing space on the city map on behalf of the Great Bend Tribune. However, "this company has no affiliation with the Great Bend Tribune and is misrepresenting themselves and our products," said Tribune Advertising Manager Diane Lacy-Trostle.
