KS Supreme Court denies appeal for Miller

The Kansas Supreme Court has denied LaVeta Miller's request for a review of her convictions for stealing money earmarked for Honor Flights for U.S. veterans. The Court has also denied a review of Calvin Jackson Hinz's sentences, Barton County Attorney Amy Mellor announced Wednesday.

School mileage applications go out Friday

USD 428 staff will mail student mileage vouchers for reimbursement on Friday. These will go to families with children in grades K-12 who live outside of the city limits and two and a half miles or more from their designated school, by way of the shortest route.

Area painters and potters featured at Deines Center

RUSSELL - The next exhibition at the Deines Cultural Center opens Friday. Four Painters & Three Potters features paintings and ceramics from seven artists from the Great Bend area. Bev Simonson, Carol Long, Karen Shaner, Krystal Barnes, Bambi Freeman, Marc Freeman and Cynthia Collier-Wilson will have their work in the Deines Galleries through June 9.

Poverty Simulation
