USD 428 approves pool lease with BCC

The Great Bend USD 428 school board approved a memorandum of understanding Monday with Barton Community College. Superintendent Brad Reed said the agreement, in effect, guarantees the school district can continue to use the college's indoor pool for the next 12 years with a $10,000 a year lease.

Former banker in Great Bend sentenced for bank fraud

WICHITA - Aformer loan officer for a bank in Great Bend was sentenced Monday to six months in prison followed by six months home detention for bank fraud, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said. In addition, he was ordered to pay $124,000 in restitution and $50,000 in a personal forfeiture judgment.
