Uniforms of past wars featured at BCHS museum

"Every since Barton County has existed, we have been represented in every war foreign war this country has fought in," said Beverly Komarek. director at the Barton County Historical Society museum. Visitors to the museum this Memorial Day weekend can view military uniforms from all past wars, from The Spanish American in 1898 to the Mid-East conflicts of today.

Huelskamp welcomes local Veterans on Honor Flight

Congressman Tim Huelskamp (KS-01) welcomed many Veterans from Kansas who arrived in Washington on their Honor Flight. Huelskamp had nice conversations with Les Stewart, Ned Brack, Roy Titsworth and Jim Gordee, all from Great Bend, and he thanked them for their service to our nation.

Key Leader scholarships available for teens

JUNCTION CITY - The Great Bend Noon Kiwanis Club will be taking high school students to Key Leader Camp, June 2-4 at Rock Springs 4-H Camp, Junction City. This three-day event is available for graduating eighth graders through graduating seniors. Cost is $250; however scholarships are still available that could pay all or part of the fee, said Barb Esfeld, local coordinator.
