BCC trustees consider new vocational program

The Board of Trustees of Barton Community College will hear a proposal for adding a Scale Technician Certificate Program to its course offerings during the board's October study session. The meeting will start at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, in Room F-30, on the lower level of the Fine Arts Building.

City rethinking tax rebate programs

The Kansas Attorney General approved the 2016 Neighborhood Revitalization Agreement on Sept. 20, City Attorney Bob Suelter told the Great Bend City Council Monday night. Looking at the agreement, city officials may not want to take part in the program in the future.

Second Veterans Memorial stone in place

The second stone engraved with the names of veterans with ties to Barton County was set in place at the Golden Belt Veterans Memorial last Tuesday. There are plans for an official dedication on Veterans Day Nov. 11.
