GBHS novice debate team places in varsity division

The Great Bend High School first year novice debate team of Tatyana Badue and Bayle Sandy competed at the Wichita Northwest debate tournament on Saturday in the varsity division and place 8th with a 4-1 win/loss record and 20 speaker points against 36 teams from 17 Wichita area schools. Badue mentions, "It was a great tournament, a good learning experience, and fun." Sandy said, "It was a fun tournament and competing in the varsity division helped push me to be more confident."

Stop ‘N Learn: Make ahead for the holidays

The Great Bend Recreation Commission will be hosting a free Stop 'N Learn Session titled, "Make Ahead For The Holidays" at noon on Wednesday at the Great Bend Recreation Center, 1214 Stone Street. Donna Krug, Barton County FCS Agent, will be the presenter for this program. The holiday season is upon us. Perhaps that means extra family members around the table for several meals.
