GBRC hosting Defensive Driving Course

The Great Bend Recreation Commission and Barton County Farm Bureau will be hosting a "Defensive Driving Course" on Monday, Nov. 16 thru Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 5:30-9 p.m. at the Great Bend Activity Center, located at 2715 18th Street. This class will be taught by Steve Billinger, Barton County Sheriff's Department. After participants attend this course, most insurance companies will lower premiums for participants that receive certificates at the end of the class. GBRC hosting Halloween party

The Great Bend Recreation Commission will be hosting a "Halloween Party" on Tuesday, Oct. 27 from 1-2 p.m., at the Senior Center located at 2005 Kansas Avenue. Dress up in costume, if you would like, and join friends for an afternoon of spooky fun, refreshments, and entertainment by a Jefferson grade school class. Commission to hold Monday morning meeting

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The agenda includes a recognition of long-time county employees, the Golden Belt Veterans Memorial dedication and a report from Central Kansas Community Corrections.

The Great Bend Recreation Commission is forming a new Shape Up Saturday exercise classes. So join, Dixie Divis and get your weekend off right with Shape Up Saturday. Barton County Health Department flu shot outreach scheduled

Barton County Health Department has scheduled community outreach for influenza and pneumonia vaccinations for Tuesday, Oct. 27, and Wednesday, Oct. 28. Department staff will be providing regular, high dose, and intranasal flu vaccine for adults and children and pneumonia vaccine on Oct. 27, at Susank Agco Corporation from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m.; at Beaver Fire Station 10 - 11 a.m.; at Odin Store 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.; and at Claflin Fire Station 1 - 2 p.m.
