Collecting trading cards has been a past time for children of all ages for a long time, but the Great Bend Police Department has put a new spin on collecting trading cards for children of the community.
The County Commission will meet as the Board of County Canvassers 8:30 a.m. Monday, April 11, at in the Office of the County Clerk. At that time, they will canvass ballots from Tuesday's city general election for Ellinwood, Great Bend and Hoisington and the Ellinwood District Hospital Board of Trustees.
Brody Nicholas, a senior at Hoisington High school, was selected to participate in the KMEA All State Concert Choir on March 27, at Century II Convention Center Concert Hall in Wichita. Eph Ehly was the guest conductor/clinician.
There will be no Chamber Coffee this week due to Farm and Ranch Expo. Opening ceremonies are 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Expo III. Show times are Wednesday 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., Thursday 9 a.m.-7 p.m., and Friday 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Great Bend native Tory Marie Arnberger has announced her candidacy for the Republican nomination for State Representative, 112th District. Arnberger believes that her passion and experience will help Great Bend and Hoisington become stronger.
Barton County Attorney Doug Matthews late Friday afternoon rejected the petition filed to recall all the members of the USD 428 School Board, noting problems with the filing itself and because the allegations made were legally insufficient to warrant such action.
