‚ÄčNAMI announces walking taco/bake sale

The Great Bend chapter of NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, will sell walking tacos and hold a bake sale from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, at the Elks Lodge, 1120 Kansas Ave. NAMI is a free support group for individuals living with mental illness, and their family members. The Great Bend City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the City Office, 1209 Williams. The agenda includes the placing of flowers at Great Bend Cemetery, the Community Improvement District public hearing and ordinance for the new Holiday Inn Express and the Kansas Department of Transportation Federal Funds Exchange Program.

Brownies conduct service project

Girl Scout Brownies in Troop 11142 recently conducted a sweet community service project at the Heartland Cancer Center in Great Bend. They made and delivered 50 chemo kits filled with journals of inspirational pictures and quotes, along with pens, toothbrushes, hand sanitizer, lotion, candy and mints. They also made special kits with toys for children.
