Great Bend Regional Hospital welcomes New Year’s Baby

Each year, the staff at Great Bend Regional Hospital wait anxiously to see which expecting mother will deliver the first baby of the new year. For 2017, the first baby was born Tuesday morning to Matt and Andrea Stalcup of Great Bend. Their new son, Easton Gates Stalcup, was born at 8:43 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, weighing 6 pounds 11 ounces and measuring 19 inches long. Grandparents include Lenard and Carolyn Maxwell, as well as Kevin and Diane Stalcup, all residing in Great Bend.

Environmental Management sees much activity in 2016

HOISINGTON - The USD 431 Board of Education met Monday night and heard a wellness committee report from Krisa Schneider, 3rd grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary School. Commission reups with KAC

By a 4-1 vote, the Barton County Commission Tuesday morning approved the county's Kansas Association Of Counties 2017 membership. The KAC dues are based on a calculation that includes a base fee, population and valuation, so the 2017 dues are $6,125.84.

Calls are answered by experienced reference/research librarians at the State Library of Kansas and kept confidential. Lines are open weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Callers can also leave brief messages to be delivered to legislators as well as request copies of bills, journals, and other legislative documents.

GETTING A LEG UP

On Monday afternoon, Jan. 9, the Kansas Legislature will convene the 2017 Legislative Session in Topeka. When members elected on Nov. 8 convened for certification and caucusing on Dec. 5, the filing of prefiled bills also began. With seven House Bills and five Senate Bills already on the list as of Thursday, Dec. 28, legislators will not face an empty slate.
