Commission to canvas votes

The County Commission will meet as the Board of County Canvassers 8:30 a.m. Monday, April 11, at in the Office of the County Clerk. Moran to host free barbecue at expo Friday

U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) will host a free farm and ranch team barbecue from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday outside Expo I at the Great Bend Farm and Ranch Expo west of Great Bend. Moran will give remarks and make a special announcement at noon. Moran for Kansas staff is also hosting a booth at the expo inside Expo 1.

Veterans Service Representative visit

A Veterans Service Representative from the Kansas Commission on Veterans' Affairs will be at the Great Bend Kansas Works Center at 1025 Main Street from 9:30 a.m. -2 p.m. on Thursday to assist veterans and their families in applying for VA benefits. Vietnam veterans are encouraged to inquire and see if their health condition is linked to agent orange. The Kansas Commission on Veterans' Affairs is a state agency that provides free assistance to veterans and their families with veterans' benefits. Call 785-625-8532 for more information.
