County Commission and City Council to meet Monday

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The agenda includes an anonymnous donation to the Golden Belt Veterans Memorial, the Be Well Barton County bicycle, pedestrian master plan and the Oil and Gas Valuation Policy Committee.

Kansas congressional leaders back continued GB air service

The Kansas congressional delegation has sent a letter to the United States Department of Transportation seeking continued air service to Great Bend. The letter supports a petition filed by city officials pleading the DOT to reconsider its order proposing the termination of the Essential Air Service at Great Bend Municipal Airport.

Suspect jailed after court-ordered GPS fails

The Barton County Attorney's office recently sought to have the bond revoked on a Great Bend man facing charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and domestic battery. Dalton Contrerez, 28, has been wearing an electronic monitoring device as a condition of his bond but reportedly allowed the device's battery to go dead on three or more occasions in February.

Chamber Coffee

GBCF listening tour – Barton County identifying needs and discussing solutions

Board members and staff of the Golden Belt Community Foundation soon will host meetings in Barton County for a listening tour and series of community meetings across Barton, Pawnee, Rush, and Stafford counties. Swinging through

It's always a gamble when it comes to Kansas weather and planning a hunting a trip in advance. This year, the organizers of the Pheasants Forever's Rooster Booster Chapter 504 Wounded Warrior hunt gambled and won with unseasonably mild weather. It meant nearly every soldier participant signed up for the outing was able to make it, arriving at Crosby's Wildgame Adventures "Hidden Hollow Lodge" near Albert around 5 p.m. Friday night. They were greeted by members and served a welcoming dinner followed by a meet and greet to get to know one another.
