School locked down briefly during search

Eisenhower Elementary School, located at 1212 Garfield St., went into lock-down mode briefly Wednesday afternoon, after a domestic disturbance was reported in the neighborhood. A woman at Dollar Tree, 3502 10th St., called the police at 1:18 p.m., reporting a known person was making threats.

Man who fell under semi treated and released

The Great Bend Police Department has released more information about a Wednesday accident in which Thomas Curran, 52, of Great Bend, fell under a semi-trailer. Community Concert Association to present Destino

Since it was Martin Luther King Jr. Day and there was no school, they also had plenty of room in the Great Bend High School parking lot. City supports zoo's AZA goal

For several years, the goal at Great Bend's Brit Spaugh Zoo has been to gain accreditation from the American Zoos and Aquariums Association. Great Bend City Band summer season

The Great Bend City Band will begin rehearsals for their season beginning at 7:30 p.m. on May 28th at the Crest Theatre. Any instrumentalist who loves to play is welcome to participate in the band. Beautiful Dreamer

Editor's Note: A 1967 Corvette once owned by singer Roy Orbison is now part of the collection at Hendrick Motorsports, owned Rick Hendrick of NASCAR fame. For a time, that storied automobile was owned by Robert "Bob" Martin of Great Bend, the former owner of Christmas Fantasy Village. Martin died on April 9.
