Most people experience a little forgetfulness now and then but for those who believe it has gone beyond that, a memory screening may be in order. And thanks to Sunflower Diversified Services, the screenings will be offered locally this month.
A nonprofit organization with the motto "Reaching Hurting People, Restoring Families, Realizing Dreams" quietly got underway in Great Bend last August. Now the Central Kansas Dream Center, located at 2100 Broadway Ave., will host some guests from Phoenix, Ariz., to train local program leaders and help others better understand the vision for central Kansas.
At the Haven Invitational Varsity Debate Tournament on Oct. 26, two Great Bend High School novice debate teams competed and both finished with winning records against varsity debaters. There where 22 schools and 58 teams that competed at the tournament. Trae Black and Ashtin Heath finished with a 3-2 win loss record with 25 speaker points and tied with their teammates Aaron Miller and Makinna Dykes with the same record and speaker points. This week's Chamber of Commerce Coffee will be hosted by the Pilot Club of Great Bend at the Chamber Board Room, 1125 Williams, at 9:30 a.m., Thursday. Host will be Nancy Sundahl with greeters Connie Oetken and Julie Smith. Coffee, refreshments and door prizes will be available.
