Area residents will have a chance to get up close and personal with some of the finest artwork in the state at the Shafer Art Gallery's "Smoky Hills Public Television Signature Auction Preview Exhibit," opening Sunday, March 16, with a public reception from 1-3 p.m. at Barton Community College.
Congressman Tim Huelskamp announced today that entries are now being accepted for the 2014 Congressional Arts Competition. All high school students in the First Congressional District are encouraged to participate in this competition. The winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
Barton Community College's Child Education Fair themed "Picnic Pleasin' Pickins," is an all-day event Saturday, April 12 in the Student Union. This learning workshop was developed for childcare center and preschool personnel, family daycare providers, elementary teachers and students enrolled in a childcare curriculum.
The Cemetery Staff is asking the public to remove any and all winter decorations from Great Bend Cemetery and Great Bend North Cemetery, Wednesday March 12 through Friday March 21, for spring cleanup and spraying season.
Great Bend High School bands will present their concert "Music in Our Schools" at 7 p.m. today in the GBHS gym. The theme was set by the newly-named music organization National Association of Music Education.
The Great Bend Recreation Commission is accepting registrations for youth activities taking place during Spring Break, the week of March 17. Space is limited, so Recreation Program Director Garet Fitzpatrick recommends registering early.
