Gas prices continue to decline

As of this past weekend, Topeka was ranked 15th for the least expensive gas price average in the metro areas around the nation at $2 per gallon, the American Automobile Association reported. Wichita at $2.01 was 22nd and Lawrence was 28th nationally.

GBHS debate places first

Three Great Bend High School debate teams competed at the TMP debate tournament in Hays on Saturday. In the novice division, Darian Harbaugh placed first overall in outstanding speaker awards. The team of Harbaugh and Patrick Heath placed fifth with a 4-1 win loss record. In the varsity division, Lisa Marlow and Geoffrey Pafford had a 3-2 win loss record. The novice team of Tatyana Badue and Bayle Sandy competed in the varsity division for the first time earning a 2-3 win loss record against many fourth-year debaters.

GBHS football ticket sales

Great Bend will host Topeka West at 7 p.m. on Friday at Memorial Stadium. Reserved seating is no longer available as all remaining games are KSHSAA regulated. However, to help reduce long lines at the ticket gates Friday night, general admission tickets will be sold in advance. You may purchase your general admission tickets for Friday's game at the Great Bend High School Activities Office from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and from 7 a.m. to noon on Friday. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
