Amelia Earhart and Calamity Jane coming to Riley School

Riley Elementary School will celebrate Kansas Day on Jan. 29 with special guests Amelia Earhart and Calamity Jane. The historical figures are portrayed by Ann Birney as Earhart and Joyce Thierer as Martha Jane Cannary, better known as Calamity Jane.

Eisenhower memorabilia sought

Eisenhower Elementary School, 1212 Garfield St., is planning a special day on Jan. 28 celebrating the 125th birthday of the school's namesake, President Dwight. D. Eisenhower. The school will also observe its 62nd birthday on that day with a come-and-go celebration from 8:30-11 a.m. and 12:30-2 p.m.

BCC to host open house for simulation lab

Barton Community College will host a "come and go" open house and reception to showcase its new Adult Healthcare Simulation Lab from 2:30-4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, in the Technical Building, room T-119. A presentation is scheduled at 3 p.m. to recognize the longstanding partnership with St. Rose Health Center and to thank them for equipment and supply donations.

Chamber Coffee

LIFE-SAVING OPTIONS

Prior to the Hoisington City Council meeting Monday night, council members arrived early to inspect and compare the merits of three different ambulances that the EMS Director Scott Fleming arranged to have available. They included one owned by the City of Hoisington, a 2013 Osage provided by Great Bend EMS, and a 2015 AEM. Fleming is also considering a model by Lifeline, but was unable to have one available Monday night for the inspection.
