First Municipal Band concert marks band shell’s 90 years

The opening concert of the 2017 Great Bend Municipal Band on Thursday night will mark a special occasion made more meaningful by the recent improvements to Jack Kilby Square. It will mark the 90th anniversary and rededication of the Clayton L. Moses Memorial Band Shell, which was at the heart of the renovations in the popular city park.

June Jaunt Hot Dog Feed to benefit tornado victims

United Way of Central Kansas will host its annual Hot Dog Feed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, at Veterans Memorial Park as a part of the June Jaunt festivities. There will also be large yard games available for families to play or you can watch the action on the volleyball courts.

A Veterans Service Representative from the Kansas Commission on Veterans' Affairs will be at the Great Bend Kansas Works Center at 1025 Main Street from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday to assist veterans and their families in applying for VA benefits. Area veterans are encouraged to inquire and see if their health condition is linked to their time in service.
