Kids explore Kansas Wetlands Education Center

Area children didn't have to travel far on Wednesday for a field trip to a national treasure. The Kansas Wetlands Education Center on K-156 overlooks Cheyenne Bottoms, the largest inland marsh in the United States and a Ramsar-designated Wetland of International Importance.

Police chase in Ellinwood ends with shots fired

On Tuesday at about 9:46 p.m. Barton County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to the area of NE 10 Road and NE 120 Ave. A vehicle was reported to be abandoned in the roadway. The vehicle was located and impounded by deputies. The owner of the vehicle was reported to be Kenneth Lamb.

Chamber Coffee

County appraisers, oil industry officials meet in Great Bend

Earlier this month, 120 county appraisers from across Kansas and oil and gas professionals from Kansas and surrounding states converged on Great Bend. They came to attend the Kansas Department of Revenue, Property Valuation Division meetings.
