Claflin city council approves purchase of police vehicle

The Claflin City Council met Monday, May 9, at the city building. City Clerk Patricia Schmidt submitted minutes from the meeting. At the meeting, the council heard a report delivered by Public Officer Gary Vaughan concerning several properties he has served notices on, in the city's continuing effort to enforce property ordinances and control blight.

The Great Bend City Council Monday night authorized Mayor Mike Allison to sign an engineering services agreement with Wichita-based Professional Engineering Consultants for the replatting of the remaining undeveloped portion of the Amber Meadows Subdivision.

School board meets with attorneys

Great Bend USD 428's Board of Education met with the school district's attorneys Monday. The special meeting started at noon at the District Education Center where the board spent 40 minutes in an executive session, which is closed to the public, in order to discuss a matter protected by attorney-client privilege.

Barton County Academy graduation moved

Because of the large number of people expected at the Barton County Academy graduation ceremony, the location has been moved from the Academy to First Presbyterian Church, 24th and Washington, Great Bend. The ceremony is still scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 17.
