Barton Community College has been awarded a contract to serve as a CDL test site. The contract is with the Kansas Department of Revenue. Additional staff training will begin soon and logistics will be finalized in the coming months.
Megan Nemnich Fyler and Brandon Fyler welcomed four new additions to their family a little over two weeks ago. Four boys, Ayden, Braxton, Cameron and Dexter, were born on Feb. 23, five days after reaching their goal of making it to 30 weeks gestation. All four were born naturally, with an entire room filled with nurses and doctors on hand to receive each tiny baby.
The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The agenda includes a proclamation honoring Hannah Mauler as Miss Barton County 2016, a proclamation denoting Severe Weather Week March 14-18 and Health Department grant requests.
In October 2015 Housing Opportunities, Inc. (HOI) partnered with the City of Great Bend to submit a grant application to Kansas Housing Resources Corporation for down payment and closing cost assistance to aid seven moderate income families to build new homes in Great Bend.
Exhilarating rhythm-and-blues vocalist Mike Farris will present the Golden Belt Community Concert Association's final concert of the 2015-2016 season. The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at the Great Bend Municipal Auditorium, Lakin and Stone.
RUSH CENTER – Golden Belt Humane Society/Adopt a Pet will be a food vendor at the St Patrick's Day celebration in Rush Center Saturday. They will be starting at 9 a.m. selling Wheatland Cafe cinnamon rolls for breakfast and walking tacos for lunch, cookies and a bottle of water for $6.
