KanCare Expansion forum shares potential Barton County impact

Monday night, a forum organized by The Alliance for Healthy Kansas at the Prince of Peace parish hall sought to inform and provide answers about why it's important now for Kansas to expand Medicaid now, even as President Donald Trump has sworn to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. Several Barton County residents, as well as some from neighboring counties attended.

Original plays to premiere at BCC

Sisters of Hope group reaches out to recent widows

"Sisters of Hope," a group for recently widowed women of all ages and denominations, is an outreach ministry of First Assembly of God Church, 601 S. Patton Road in Great Bend. The group will hold a "Meet and Greet" at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, in the North Concourse at the church. Park on the northwest side of the church; the entrance will be marked by streamers and balloons.

Commission to hold Monday morning meeting

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The agenda includes a recognition of Barton County Sheriff's Office detective Sharon Wondra's retirement, a fiscal relationship between the county and the Wetlands and Wildlife National Scenic Byway and a separation of job duties the Road and Bridge, Noxious Weed and Memorial Parks departments, now all overseen by Dale Phillips.
