The artwork of Heath Duntz is currently featured at Petr's Frame Shop, 2009 16th St. in Great Bend. The opening reception will be from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday at the shop. Musicians Jered Becker and Anibal Rivas will accompany the show, matching its atmosphere.

Dust Bowl exhibit Open House at Kinsley Library

A public open house for the national traveling exhibit, Dust, Drought, and Dreams Gone Dry will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Kinsley Library. The library was one of only 25 entities across the country chosen to host the exhibit.

​Library classes explain online card catalog

The Great Bend Public Library is offering free sessions on how to use Pathfinder, GBPL's online catalog. Library spokseperson Jennifer King said this is the perfect opportunity for the public to get comfortable with the library's system as they prepare to operate from a smaller site for a few months. The library will offer multiple public sessions and there is no need to register in advance.

Imagination Playground open Wednesday

2014 has been a busy year at the library! Starting with the beginning of the year in January, the Kansas Photography Exhibit was held. In February, ESCL was honored as one of four runner-up finalists for the 2013 AWE, Inc. Literacy Success Awards. March was a busy month with a visit from author, Cynthia Kadohata, Chamber Coffee, and the popular Quilt Show. In April, the library hosted a Student Art Show and a special event featuring Wyatt Townley, Poet Laureate of Kansas. A Veterans Service representative from the Kansas Commission on Veterans' Affairs will be at the Great Bend Kansas Works Center at 1025 Main Street from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, to assist veterans and their families in applying for VA benefits.
