The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The agenda includes a United Way of Central Kansas Pacesetter designation and a SouthWest Kansas Area Agency on Aging Board appointment.
Thursday night, Aug. 20, at 10 p.m., Hoisington Police and deputies from the Barton County Sheriff's Office were called to 673 W. 3rd St. in Hoisington where a man was in his garage, threatening to harm himself.
Crime Stoppers is seeking information about a man that was seen by surveillance cameras breaking into a storage shed located at 3908 10th St. in Great Bend. According to Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir, speaking for Crime Stoppers, the man is a white male, wearing a black mask, pants, and a T-Shirt. He cut a padlock on the storage shed and he was seen stealing a Pressure-Pro EZ3042, a four wheeled high pressure power washer. The man pulled north across 10th St., and through Walgreen's parking lot. The loss was $3,715.
WOODWARD, Okla. – Initial reports indicated that the rural Oklahoma man charged with shooting his wife shot her accidentally last Friday. However, in a 911 call from the woman herself a short time later, she said her husband shot her following a domestic disturbance in their home, according to documents from Woodward County, Okla., District Attorney's Office.

GBHH&H is one of 19 United Way of Central Kansas agencies. The "Stuff the Bus" event seeks donations of items commonly used by the member agencies.
