Great Bend City Council to hold budget hearing

The Great Bend City Council will hold a budget hearing at 7 p.m. Monday at the City office, 1209 Williams. The council's regular meeting will follow at 7:30 p.m. The agenda includes an increase in water rates, an update on the old opera house building and the city's 2014 audit.

Commission to hold Monday morning meeting

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The agenda includes an Abatement of Taxes and Special Assessments for the City of Hoisington, a cooperative effort to fix roads in Claflin, the courthouse chiller and Health Department immunization rates.

New apartment complex grand opening planned Sen. Jerry Moran to be in attendance

The grand opening of the apartment complex Reserves at Trail Ridge will take at 10 a.m. place Thursday. Senator Jerry Moran will be in attendance, along with other dignitaries. The public is invited to attend this community event.

Ellinwood budget approved

The budget hearing at the Ellinwood City Council meeting Tuesday night, Aug. 11, was short with no public comment. The council then adopted resolution 8115, a new requirement by the state legislature of municipalities seeking to increase their mill levy, and unanimously approved the 2016 budget as presented for publication.
