The Great Bend City Slickers 4-H Club met on Aug. 8 at the Presbyterian Church. There were 10 members present, two leaders and five parents. A demonstration was given by Aubrey Likes. Stephen Crawford gave a project talk. The club took 3rd place in the 4-H BBQ ticket sales. The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 at the Presbyterian Church.
NEW ORLEANS, La. – Local Pilot Club members attend the 2013 Pilot International Annual Convention and Leadership conference in New Orleans. Mary Cramer, local Pilot Club president, and Renee Johnson were recognized at the conference for 25 years of dedicated Pilot service, and District leader and past local President Rhonda Knudson also attended.
The Great Bend City Slickers 4-H club met on June 20 at the 4-H building. Seven members, two leaders and four parents were present. Members shared their 4-H projects to be entered in the fair. Members were reminded of the cookie jar/banner and bbq tickets for the fair to be held on July 10-14th. They were also reminded to help at the fair and clean up afterward. A demonstration was presented by Nicole Likes. Talks were given by Stephen Crawford and Hayden Honomichil.
Heart of Kansas Quilt Guild will host "Quilts on the Prairie" quilt show from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 26 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 27 in Hutchinson at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in the Domestic Arts Building. Featured will be quilted items for sale, a quilt shop, demonstrations, concessions, door prizes, Ferrol Lattin speaking at 1 p.m. on July 26, a trunk show at 1 p.m. and silent auction, on July 27. The cost is $7 for both days.
The three Great Bend chapters of Beta Sigma Phi celebrated Founder's Day April 28 at First Christian Church. The event recognizing the 84th anniversary of the founding of Beta Sigma Phi International was planned and hosted by Xi Delta Upsilon. Following the Founder's Day meal, each chapter presented its awards to honor members.
