The Great Bend Noon Lions Club recently donated $1,000 to earthquake/tsunami relief in Japan through the Lions Club International Foundation. The funds are part of more than $6 million LCIF has committed to the effort, including $3 million contributed by Lions in Japan.

The Eagle Scout Court of Honor was bestowed upon Tyler John Koelsch on March 12 at the Eastridge Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, Neb. Tyler is the son of Rick Koelsch, formerly of Great Bend and the late Jane Koelsch. Grandparents are LeRoy and Jean Dringmann and June Koelsch, all of Great Bend. Tyler is a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop #2 Cornhusker Council. His scoutmaster is Scott Connors.
The Barton County Historical Museum and Village will conduct an Orientation Meeting at 1 p.m. on April 7 at the Village south of the river bridge on Highway 281. The meeting is for anyone in Barton County who seeks information about volunteer service at the museum. This meeting will help volunteers, new or returning, to become acquainted with life at the Village and to learn more about the new happenings and the many new displays at the museum.

The Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel met at 11:30 a.m. on March 11 at the Club at StoneRidge. President Rose Kelly opened the meeting with the flag salute and Becky Dudrey gave the invocation. Thirty-eight members and one guest, Alicia Westhoff, were present. New members Steve Dayton, Janice Friedeman and Marcia Berchek were introduced.
