The Seventh Annual Barton County 4-H Winter Classic hosted over sixty 4-H members from nearby counties. Members participated in air rifle and archery competition to prepare for the upcoming state 4-H Shooting Sports Competition to be held April 16th at the Expo Grounds west of Great Bend.

On March 5, The Parnassus Club held its annual vocal and piano auditions at Barton Community College Fine Arts Building. The 1st place piano award was given to Hannah Mosier of Great Bend, 2nd place piano award was given to Taylor Fry of Great Bend, and 3rd place piano award was given to Hannah Wilborn of Hoisington. Tiffany Harms, piano instructor at McPherson College and formerly of Great Bend judged the piano contestants. League of Women Voters of Great Bend will hold the monthly meeting at noon on Tuesday at The Club at Stone Ridge. Lunch will be from the menu. The program will be provided by Phyllis Bosley, who will be speaking on the effects of fetal alcohol syndrome on children and ultimately the family. The luncheon is informal and time will be allowed for discussion from the floor. The public is invited to attend and participate.
