The location for the Central Kansas Thread Benders meetings was incorrect in Sunday's club calendar. The group now meets at the Heartland Community Church in the Village Mall at 4907 10th St. This week members will make pot holders for Heartland Community Church at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 17. There will be a business meeting and presentation on the Golden Plains Quilts of Valor at 1 p.m.

The Prairie Godmothers, a group of "women helping women" in Barton County, wanted to give an extra blessing to the women that have already been helped this past year. The board met Nov. 7 at the Golden Belt Community Foundation office and agreed to further help those women this holiday season with gift cards to Ellinwood Packing Plant. Women can treat themselves and their families to a variety of meats, cheeses, pies, and sweets.

Valley Lodge No. 95 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows celebrated its 145th anniversary Thursday night, Oct. 19, with a special dinner and meeting. The members of the Great Bend lodge were joined by brothers from St. John Lodge No. 539 and Jr. Past Grand Master Richard McDiffett from Pratt Lodge No. 248. During the meeting, the minutes from their very first meeting on July 31, 1872, were read, acknowledging that they received a dispensation from the Grand Lodge of Kansas to form a lodge. ELLSWORTH - Smoky Hill EAA Chapter No. 1127 will host a Young Eagle Day on Saturday Nov. 4, at the Ellsworth airport. Young people age 8 to 17 are welcome to experience a demonstration flight in an airplane. The flights are provided free of charge to any youth wishing to participate.
