Progress Club members made a field trip to Greensburg on May 2 to view firsthand the town's recovery since the 2007 tornado. GreenTown tour leader Ruth Ann Wedel led the group on visits to the Silo Eco-Home, 5.4.7 Arts Center, Kiowa County Schools complex, Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, Methodist Church, BTI Greensburg - John Deere, and a private home. The 66th-annual Kansas State Convention of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International was held April 28-May 1 at the Highland Hotel and Convention Center in Great Bend. On April 16th, the Great Bend Saddle Club held their Third Annual Benefit Trail Ride. This trail ride benefited the Pawnee County Humane Society. To ride the riders brought bags of pet food that was given to the humane society along with proceeds from the poker hands. Participants were able to purchase tickets to play poker hands on electronic games. The top three poker hands won cash prizes.

At the March 14 meeting of the Great Bend City Slickers 4-h Club there were five members, two leaders, eight parents and four guests present. The club took a donation to the Great Bend Humane Society. A demonstration and talk was given by Joshua Crawford.
