DAV "Forget-Me-Not" fundraiser
Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 27, Great Bend will hold their annual "Forget-Me-Not" fundraiser, on July 4th at local businesses in Great Bend. Soroptimists celebrate most successful Garden Tour in club history
The Soroptimists of Great Bend recently celebrated the most successful garden tour fundraiser in their club history. The tour, titled "Great Gardens & Garages," was held on Sunday, June 12th with the help of numerous individuals in the Great Bend area. PEO Convention
Linda Marmie of Chapter DU, JanBonine of Chapter IV, Becky Hill of Chapter HR and Margie Nairn of chapter FS, were among more than 250 delegates who attended the 109th annual convention of Kansas State Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, June 3-5, in Wichita. The theme for the convention was "Destination P.E.O." Kansas State Chapter President Jeanette Mooney of Chapter JB, Paola, presided.

League of Women Voters
League of Women Voters of Great Bend will hold the monthly meeting at noon on Tuesday, at The Club at Stone Ridge. Lunch will be from the menu. The program will be provided by Lily Akings who will be discussing the high incidence of teen pregnancy. The luncheon is informal and time will be allowed for discussion from the floor. The public is invited to attend and participate in the discussion.

Parnassus Clube
The Parnassus Club met May 10 at the Classic Inn, with seven members present for the annual Spring Luncheon. Following a very yummy and enjoyable meal, the business meeting was held. Sharon Jones reported on the Night at the Opera in Salina which was enjoyed by Nancy Converse, Betty Erickson, Chari Miller and Sharon. They enjoyed an Italian dinner at Martinelli's across the street from the Stiefel Theatre where the Opera evening was presented.
Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel
The Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel met at 11:30 a.m. on May 6 at the Club at Stone Ridge. President Rose Kelly opened the meeting with the flag salute and Becky Dudrey gave the invocation. Forty-two members and one guest, Joe Boley, were present. Birthdays for March, April and May were recognized.
Barton County Historical Society
Barton County Historical Society will have their monthly meeting at 7:39 p.m. on Monday. The program will be Home on the Range: Kansas Folklore presented by Jim Hoy. The program is brought to you by the Kansas Humanities Council, a non-profit organization promoting understanding of the history and ideas that shape our lives and strengthen our sense of community.

The Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel met on May 10, at Montana Mike's in Great Bend. President Sally O'Connor presided over the meeting. There were 50 members and two guests present.
Great Bend Optimist and Rotary Club luncheon
A joint luncheon recognition was recently held for the Great Bend Optimist and Rotary Clubs. Brigadier General Vic Braden, Deputy Commanding General, Army National Guard, for the United States Army Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth was the speaker.
