Pancakes and sausage at Masonic Hall

The Great Bend Masonic Lodge No. 15, A.F.&A.M., will hold a pancake and sausage feed from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 17, at the lodge, 1917 17th St. Cost is $5 per person; kids 5 years old and younger eat free. This is a fundraiser to support scholarship programs.

Barton County 4H’ers attend Sedgewick County Air Rifle Match

Local 4H'ers traveled to Sedgwick County on Feb. 25, to compete in an air rifle competition. There were eight Barton county 4H'ers and 51 4H'ers from other counties across the state.

Garden Club members learn the language of flowers

Want to tell someone, "My heart is breaking due to your fickleness"? Just send them a tussie mussie containing deep red carnations and larkspur. So learned 14 members of Great Bend Garden Club during a program describing and illustrating the various ways flowers and other herbs and plants can be used as communication between people. In addition, nature has perfected a variety of ways flowers and plants communicate with lesser animals. Pilot Club meeting

The Pilot Club of Great Bend and the clubs of Pilot International focus on doing more and caring more. Horse Hippology Team places first

The State 4-H Horse Panorama is held at Rock Springs Ranch and members participate in several activities, including hippology, that can enhance learning for 4-H members by letting them exhibit their knowledge and understanding of equine science. Participants were able to share their knowledge through the hippology contest, quiz bowl, demonstrations, public speaking, photography and educational posters.

Golden Sheaf Chapter #226 Order of the Eastern Star meeting

Recently Golden Sheaf Chapter #226 Order of the Eastern Star, met and Grand Representatives of other Grand Jurisdictions in Kansas were honored. Golden Sheaf has three members serving in this capacity. They are Barbara Lear, Grand Representative of Tennessee in Kansas, Richard Tennet Grand Representative of British Columbia and Youkon in Kansas and Carol Anderson Grand Representative of Missouri in Kansas. The function of a Grand Representative is to foster friendship and fellowship with members of other Grand Jurisdictions. League of Women Voters meeting

The League of Women Voters position on school finance, led by Jai Marietta, will be the topic of discussion at the league's meeting at noon on Tuesday at the Classic Inn. Updating the League's handbook, which dates back for several years, is also planned. Questions and comments will be allowed from the floor. Lunch will be available from the buffet or menu.
