Busy Buzzers 4-h Club
League of Women Voters meeting
League of Women Voters of Great Bend will hold the monthly meeting at noon on Tuesday at Montana Mike's in the north room. Lunch will be from the menu and can be from their "quick serve" menu.
Progress Club meeting
The Progress Club met on December 3 at the home of Patricia Halbower with 20 members and one guest in attendance. Norma Ward and Donna McAllaster were the co-hostesses.

BCARSP meeting
The Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 14 at Montana Mike's, 906 McKinley in Great Bend. President Rose Kelly will be in charge of the meeting. Members are reminded that dues of $20 for 2013 are now payable to Treasurer Danelda St. Aubyn.
Preceptor Pi members share stories of family Veterans
Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Nov. 20 at Rosewood Gallery. Susan Coulson served as hostess. President Jeri Brozek led the meeting attended by 11 members.
VFW Post 311 and Ladies Auxiliary meeting
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3111 and Ladies Auxiliary met on Nov. 27 at the Post Home. The charter was draped in memory of Mary B. Schneider and Catherine Hazen. The following donations were made on Oct. 27, Make a Difference Day- $200 of groceries for the Food Bank; $100 for candy for the children's Christmas party on Dec. 8; and $50 to the Hungry Heart Kitchen. Bungalow Family and Community Education Unit held its fall salad luncheon on Nov. 12 at the Foundry Methodist Church with Jeanine Laughlin and Margie Nairn as hostesses. Guests were Bill Laughlin, Joe Boley and Sue Ware.

Great Bend City Slickers 4-H club
The Great Bend City Slickers 4-H club met on Nov 8th. Roll call was taken by giving a favorite movie. Seven members, two leaders, five parents and four guests were present. Nicole Rzhia sang a song. The club will be going Christmas caroling for the December meeting. It was voted to by poinsettias for the Senior Center. Bernie Unruh gave a program on proper procedures. The next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Dec. 13 at Cherry Village. Members are asked to bring a gift for the nuns.

Desk and Derrick presents check
The Desk and Derrick Club of Barton County recently donated $100 to the Great Bend Military Moms, to help with the costs of sending care packages to deployed military personnel. The Great Bend Military Moms have sent more than 4,300 care packages, to those serving so far away from home, and are getting ready for the next shipment.
