Garden Club prepares for spring

The dormant season during winter is the perfect time for making plans for spring, which is what 12 members of the Great Bend Garden Club did at their February meeting. Club members discussed spring maintenance and beautification of the Rose Garden located in the Great Bend Cemetery.

​TOPS forming Walk Kansas teams; area captain to visit

The Great Bend chapter of the Take Off Pounds Sensibly support group (TOP KS 1151) is forming teams for the upcoming Walk Kansas fitness challenge. The chapter will pay the Walk Kansas fee for any new member who joins during the month of February.

A.P.I. Kansas meeting

A.P.I. Kansas Luncheon will be held at noon on Wednesday at the Club at StoneRidge, 1438 24th Street, Great Bend. Lunch will be $10 per person. The speaker will be Mr. Adam Buehler, Dover Artificial Lift on ESPs in Low Flow Applications: Optimizing Wells in a Down Market.

What is Hippology?

What is Hippology? Hippology is a Greek word, with the word root "hippo" meaning horse and "ology" meaning the study of. The State 4-H Horse Panorama is held at Rock Springs Ranch and it hosts several activities, including hippology, that can enhance learning for 4-H members by letting them exhibit their knowledge and understanding of equine science. Participants were able to share their knowledge through the hippology contest, quiz bowl, demonstrations, public speaking, photography and educational posters.
