Progress Club

The Progress Club met on April 4. Hostess was Mary Dikeman with 15 members present. Mark Mingenback, director of Marketing and Public Relations for Central Kansas Medical Center gave the program. The Dominican Sisters started a hospital in Great Bend in 1903. A number of changes are occurring at CKMC when it becomes St. Rose Ambulatory and Surgery Center on May 1st. League of Women Voters meeting

The League of Women Voters of Great Bend will hold its monthly meeting at noon on April 12, an the Club at StoneRidge. The program will be provided by Jane Belanger of Heartland Farms who will be discussing climate change. Time will be provided for questions from the floor and discussion. Lunch will be from the menu. Great Bend Saddle Club

The Great Bend Saddle Club's Third Annual Trail Ride will be held on April 16, rain or shine. Sign in is from 9 to 10 a.m. at Stone Lake in Great Bend. Noon Lions give to Japan effort

The Great Bend Noon Lions Club recently donated $1,000 to earthquake/tsunami relief in Japan through the Lions Club International Foundation. The funds are part of more than $6 million LCIF has committed to the effort, including $3 million contributed by Lions in Japan.

Eagle Scout Tyler Koelsch

The Eagle Scout Court of Honor was bestowed upon Tyler John Koelsch on March 12 at the Eastridge Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, Neb. Tyler is the son of Rick Koelsch, formerly of Great Bend and the late Jane Koelsch. Grandparents are LeRoy and Jean Dringmann and June Koelsch, all of Great Bend. Tyler is a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop #2 Cornhusker Council. His scoutmaster is Scott Connors.
