League of Women Voters of Great Bend will hold its monthly meeting noon on Tuesday, in a new location. It will meet at Montana Mike's in the west end of the south room. Lunch will be from the menu. The program will be provided by Doris Myers, and will be on the subject of immigration and naturalization. The luncheon is informal and time will be provided for discussion from the floor. The public is invited to attend and participate in the discussion.
The Daughters of Isabella will sponsor a Soup Sampler Supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today at St. Patrick's Parish Center. Members are asked to bring pies and/or cakes to the parish center after 1 p.m. today.
The Progress Club met on Jan. 2 at the home of Pat Halbower with Kathy Schugart as co-hostess. There were 17 members in attendance.
Members of the Pilot Club of Great Bend recently became aware of the need for car booster seats for some young children. The club donated thirty of the seats to children at Head Start, Helping Hands Pre-School, the Applied Learning Center and Share and Care Pre-School. Golden Belt Chapter 673 of SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) is proud to celebrate the achievements of its local board, along with the achievements of its organization at a national level. SCORE is a national service organization connecting retired business experts with small business owners and entrepreneurs. "Our chapter is here to help entrepreneurs grow their small businesses," says Chapter president Brock McPherson. "We help entrepreneurs with creating a business plan, outlining an operating budget, learning how to manage employees, or anything that has to do with starting, managing, and growing a small business."
Great Bend Garden Club met on Dec. 15 at the County Extension Office with Iva Bearens as hostess to the 15 members attending. Kay Hollembeck was introduced as a new member. Nancy Swafford, president, conducted the business session.

Sam Phillips and Bradley Hanks were recently awarded the prestigious Eagle Scout award at a Boy Scout Troop 184 Eagle Court of Honor. The Eagle Scout award is the highest youth honor in Scouting.
The Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel met at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 9 at the Club at Stone Ridge. President Rose Kelly called the meeting to order. A total of 49 members were present. Rose led the flag salute and Becky Dudrey gave the invocation. The minutes of the Sept. 2 meeting were approved as printed and the treasurer's report was approved as read.
The Parnassus Club met on Dec. 13. Parnassus Auditions have been set for March 3rd, 2012. The room is approved for the auditions. Glenna and committee are searching for judges at this time.
Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Dec. 13 at the home of Rosie Luthi for the annual Christmas social and meeting attended by 13 members. President Janis Link conducted the meeting.

Progress Club met on Oct. 6, at the home of Kathy Schugart with Ruth Lowry and Darlene Mathers as co-hostesses. The program was "Women's Health" given by Dr. Ana Refinetti and her assistant Shawna Klima. Dr. Refinetti presented an overview of breast disease, the importance of an annual mammogram and guidelines by the Ameican Cancer Society. Her office will soon be moving to the Kirby Building and establishing a breast care clinic there.
