Preceptor Pi and Laureate Kappa Combine for Sister Chapter Social

Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi shared a Sister Chapter Social with Laureate Kappa Jan. 15 at First Christian Church. The dinner was catered by Bernard's Catering of Hutchinson. The two chapters met separately for their meetings following the dinner.

TLC Twisters 4-H meeting

The TLC Twisters 4-H club met on Dec. 13. Members bought gifts for the Angel Tree and took presents to the Life Giving Center. Pizza was then served and members brought desserts to share.

Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met on Jan. 8 at the home of Janis Link. Susan Coulson served as co-hostess. President Jeri Brozek led the meeting.

League of Women Voters meeting

League of Women Voters of Great Bend will hold the monthly meeting at noon on Tuesday at Montana Mike's in the north room. Lunch will be from the menu and can be from their "quick serve" menu.

Kansas Lions’ guest to give “New York” flavor to Mid-Winter Rally in Salina

The annual Mid-Winter Rally of Kansas Lions will take on a "New York" flavor as they play host to Past International Director Doug Alexander, on Jan. 18-20 at the Ramada Convention Center in Salina.

Preceptor Pi members celebrate with Holiday Fest

Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Dec. 18 at the First Christian Church for the chapter's Holiday Fest. The meal was a catered Mexican dinner.

Great Bend City Slickers club meeting

Great Bend City Slickers met on Dec. 13th. Eight members, two leaders, seven parents and one guest were present. Roll call was taken by naming one of Santa's reindeer. A project talk was given on archery. A health talk was given on teeth and a safety talk was given on hunting safety. Flowers were given to the Senior Center. After a chili supper the club went caroling at Cherry Village. Members brought gifts for the nuns. Members raising livestock must attend showmanship and assurance training and attend five regular 4-H club meetings to sell market projects.

VFW and Ladies Auxiliary Quilts of Valor

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3111 and its Ladies Auxiliary hosted representatives of Quilts of Valor presentation on Veterans Day, Nov. 11th. Quilts of Valor became a national organization with the beginning started by a Blue Star Mom, Catherine Roberts, of Seaford, Del., because of her son, Nathaniel's year long deployment to Iraq. Her desire was to see that returning veterans were welcomed home with love and gratitude that they deserved. QOV's are stitched with love, prayers and healing thoughts. BCARSP meeting

The Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel met at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 14 at Montana Mike's. President Rose Kelly called the meeting to order and led the flag salute. Becky Dudrey gave the invocation. A total of 50 were present, including five guests, John Basham, Donna Gales, Myrna Holthaus, Gordon Zahradnik and Rae Zahradnik.

American Legion Post 180 Auxiliary May Day Celebration

The American Legion Post 180 Auxiliary will host a May Meet and Greet in recognition of their new Executive Board members from 4 to 7 p.m. on May 13, at 1011 Kansas Street. This is an opportunity to meet the new board members and receive information about the organization, accomplishments, activities and benefits offered to individuals and the community. Tea and cookies will to be provided. Current members and anyone that may want information about the organization, interested in making new friends or have questions are welcome.
