The Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the Club at StoneRidge, 24th and Frey in Great Bend. President Rose Kelly will be in charge of the meeting. Members are asked to continue to record their hours of volunteer service.

Members of Preceptor Pi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi present a gift of $550 to Dr. Kyle Krebaum for the Makinna Ann Hope Foundation established by Krebaum and his wife, Tasha, in memory of their daughter, Makinna, to help families who have special-needs children. This donation will go toward the Foundation's new project to fund playground equipment for a special-needs access park. Since the chapter's first donation to the Makinna Ann Hope Foundation in 2008, Preceptor Pi has given a total of $3,082 to the foundation. The Parnassus Club met at the home of Darlene Boley for the December meeting. Coralie Button, club president, led the business meeting. Plans for the spring auditions for voice and piano students were discussed. This year's auditions will be March 7, at BCC. This annual event, held in the Fine Arts building, is an opportunity for students to perform before friends, family and a judge. The winners are given an award and in April perform for the members of the Parnassus Club.
Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi is continuing its Reception Sisters project offering to assist with receptions for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and other celebrations. The project is a fund-raiser for the chapter's various service projects. Anyone wishing more information about this project may contact Preceptor Pi president Susan Coulson, 620-792-3802.

The Ellinwood Heritage Club will hose a Christmas Dinner at noon on Monday, at 103 N. Main. Turkey, stuffing, potatoes and rolls will be provided. Salads, vegetables and desserts can be brought by guests. Entertainment will be provided by the high school music department.
The Busy Buzzers 4-H club decided November would be a great time to give back to the community with a service project. At their monthly November meeting, they decided to sew shirt protectors for the local care facility Almost Home. Several of club members arrived an hour early to the meeting to begin sewing. There were experienced sewers and kids who had never sewn before helping with the project. By the end of the night, around 12-14 shirt protectors had been sewn.
